management academy - 5 reasons

As the 2018 cohort graduate from the REED Management Academy, we take a look at what gives the programme its excellent reputation across both REED and the wider Recruitment industry.

1)   Training Delivered by Experts with Experience

The Learning and Development team at REED are made up of highly experienced and knowledge-experts when it comes to recruitment and management, with a number of the trainers having come from a background of office management themselves.

The Management Academy expands the expertise even further through the number of directors and senior personnel from across the business delivering modules, seminars and advice to delegates throughout the programme.

Training topics cover all aspects of management from profit and loss reporting to preferred leadership styles. Our in-house experts deliver each topic not just through general principles but by applying it to real situations the delegates can expect in a REED work environment.

2)   It’s Highly Competitive

Before applying for the programme, potential delegates must have been working at REED for a minimum of two years, including at least one year in a consultant role. All applicants must provide a written proposal as to why they think they should be included on the programme, complete aptitude tests, and be championed by an established manager in the business.

All of this means the Management Academy receives around 30-40 applicants each intake, of which only around 50% can be accepted.

3)   A Stunning Location to Study

The Reed Business School, home to our Learning and Development team, was acquired by Sir Alec Reed in 1972 and provides an unrivaled out-of-office experience for REED Co-Members at training and induction events.

As with many of our training courses, delegates will stay overnight in the business school or one of cottages in Little Compton, with all meals served by the dedicated (and highly appreciated…) team of chefs.

For their end of programme celebrations, Management Academy delegates are even treated to a candlelit dinner with wine…

4)   It Delivers Results

In December 2018 a cohort of 16 delegates completed the Management Academy, with the final assessments and celebrations held at the Reed Business School.

During the nine months of training the cohort achieved 5 promotions to manager roles between them; a real testament to the delegates’ hard work and ability to rapidly implement the invaluable lesson from our trainers.

Over 70% of delegates who graduate from the academy go on to run their own office in REED.

And the final reason we know the Management Academy is great…?

5)   Our Co-Members Told Us So…

Just taking a quick look at our Glassdoor profile will tell you that our Co-Members rate as higher than any other recruitment company in the UK, and that one of the most commonly cited reasons for loving REED is the training and development opportunities for our employees.

“The wealth of knowledge that came from the L&D team, the guest speakers and the other members of my cohort made the entire experience an absolute pleasure to be a part of…

I was lucky enough to be promoted in to a management position shortly after starting Management Academy and the course has provided me with a strong foundation to succeed within my role. I would wholeheartedly endorse the Management Academy.”
