Overview

At Reed Online we have recently embarked on an exciting journey where we are not only evolving our agile ways of working but replatforming and rewriting our digital products and software services.  You’ll be part of a team enabling Reed Online to deliver valuable,high quality digital products that help people find great jobs,matched to their needs. 

We have brought together an experienced Product & Technology Leadership team with many successful Agile & transformations under their belt to bring leadership,support and empowerment to all of our teams. 

We already release to production every week,but we are moving towards true Continuous Integration and Delivery,where each team can do this several times per day,every day. 

As a Technical Product Owner,you will be spearheading the rebuild of our core Job Seeker and Recruiter platforms that our core business products and services are built on.  You will have the support of a Technical BA to analyse opportunities and options with the team. We have designed our High Level Target Architecture,utilising serverless tech,Service-based architecture (with microservices where appropriate) and an API-first approach.  You will work with the development engineers & quality engineers in the scrum teams and architects to define and prioritise the backlog to deliver business value. Your ability to apply PO skills to identify,define and map out deliverables that are aligned to clearly articulated business value will be paramount.   

Your users / customers will be other development teams and their POs.  But the platform will also be the main vehicle for raising our levels of technical excellence,NFRs and a culture to ‘Build Quality In’.  The platform,being developed with loosely coupled,independently deployable services,supported by cutting edge cloud infrastructure & tooling,will be the primary enabler of the CTOs Technology Strategy to provide Reed with the ability to be innovative,fast to market and with sustainable speed.  This platform will fundamentally change the way that Reed Online can disrupt and lead the market. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Define product vision,roadmap and new value opportunities;

  • Assess value,develop cases,and prioritise stories,epics and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with both Product and Technology Strategy;

  • Create,own and deliver the platform roadmap and backlogs,ensuring the scrum teams are focused on the highest priorities,whilst giving support and maintenance for your product;

  • Lead the planning product release plans and set expectation for delivery of new functionalities

  • Provide backlog management,iteration planning,and elaboration of the user stories;

  • Work collaboratively,influence and negotiate,share information appropriately,and build supportive,trusting and professional relationships with your colleagues at REED;

  • Plan and engage with the appropriate stakeholders at relevant stages across product planning,development and go live stages.

  • Keep abreast of the relevant technology,tooling and practices landscape.

  • Provide input into the CI & CD approaches,and wider DevOps strategy to ensure that environments,test data and unit,integration,service & UI testing is set up for success.

Skills and Experience

  • Highly analytical and has the ability to use data to understand key business drivers and to underpin strategic and tactical decision making

  • Builds effective relationships and is flexible and collaborative in approach

  • Experience with a digital product-based company desirable

  • Excellent written and verbal communication
